OUR MISSION

From Trash to Treasure. From Ashes to Assignment.elp and make an impact

Christian Booklet

Our Biblical Mandate

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

—Proverbs 31:8–9

This is not charity. This is calling.

This is not just aid. This is assignment.

And we will not stop until every woman—and every family—knows they are treasured by God… and lives like it.

It All Started With a Prayer

“God, break my heart for what breaks Yours.”

And He did. That whispered prayer of surrender became a movement.

And in the ashes of a landfill, purpose began to rise.

“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

—Mark 10:27

What we Do

We are starting with the empowerment of women, but the dream is much bigger. Our vision is to see entire families in Korah moved into safer, sustainable homes—homes built from recycled plastic, turning literal trash into lasting treasure. In doing so, we’re not only restoring dignity—we’re creating jobs, promoting sustainability, and transforming communities from the inside out.

• Empowerment, not dependency

We’ve already helped 100 women in Korah launch their own small businesses—giving them the ability to feed their families, send their children to school, and reclaim their dignity.

But there are still so many more women who need support—and we are committed to reaching them.

• Jobs, not just handouts

We focus on sustainable impact: business training, community rebuilding, and support for long-term growth—not one-time relief.

• Healing a generation

From trauma recovery to entrepreneurship, we believe in total restoration—for women, children, and entire households.

God Says: They Are Treasured

Despite the devastation, God declares:

“You are my people, my treasured possession.” (Deut. 26:18)

These people may have been overlooked. But heaven has a different narrative. And it starts with dignity, identity, and a new legacy.

The Reality: Life Expectancy & Injustice

• In communities living on landfills like Korah, life expectancy is often as low as 35–45 years, due to toxic exposure, starvation, unsafe structures, and lack of medical care.

• Many families suffer from leprosy and long-standing stigma—this was once a place where the outcast and forgotten were sent, and that shame still lingers today.

• Clean water, food, healthcare, and safety are severely limited.

• Most children are unable to attend school, trapped in a daily cycle of survival.

Many here feel as though they’ve been cursed.

But heaven is speaking a new name over them: Treasured.

The Korah Community: Hidden in Plain Sight

On the outskirts of Addis Ababa, beneath the shadow of Koshe—a massive landfill whose name literally means “dirty”—lies the community of Korah. Generations of men, women, and children have survived by scavenging the dump: collecting and recycling trash, …and even relying on discarded food from the landfill to feed themselves and their children.

In 2017, a fatal garbage landslide swept through Korah, killing over 110 people—mostly women and children. Toxic fumes, open flames, and unstable heaps make this one of the most dangerous places on earth to live.

And yet—God sees them.

Deuteronomy 26:18 (NIV):

Deuteronomy 26:18 (NIV):

“The Lord has declared this day that you are His people, His treasured possession.”

This is more than our foundation’s name—it’s our calling. At Treasured Foundation, we believe every woman—and every family—in Korah is exactly that: treasured by God. Not forgotten. Not forsaken.

They are chosen. They are valuable. They are rising.

“He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes, with the princes of his people.”

(Psalm 113:7–8)

We began with empowering women.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Now, we’re expanding the vision—to turn trash into treasure, and build homes from recycled plastic, so families can rise with dignity and live in safety.

This is the heartbeat of Treasured Foundation.

We don’t just give fish—we teach how to fish. Because this isn’t just aid. This is assignment.
